Biography

Most recently IBM's Vice President, Human Resources - Compensation, Shugrue's 32-year career with IBM has included positions as Director of Human Resources (Research, Services, Sales); Director of Compensation and Benefits, Europe (Paris); Director of Benefits, IBM U.S.; Director of Executive Resources, and Director of Executive Compensation. As Vice President of Compensation he designed and implemented IBM's salary, incentive, and stock based programs. Other experiences include employee relations, career planning, and succession planning. He was a member of the Conference Board's Executive Committee on Compensation and the American Management Association's Advisory Board for Compensation and Benefits. He also contributed to the section on Compensation in Lou Gerstner's book on IBM, 'Who Says Elephants Can't Dance.'

Shugrue is the former Executive Director of the Executive Partners Program for The Mason School of Business and was a member of the Board of Trustees for the School. He received the Daniel C. Lewis Award for Volunteer Service to The Mason School as well as the Jim Ukrop Award from The Mason School Board of Trustees.

Shugrue has a bachelor's degree from Fairfield University and a master's degree from New York University.
