Company Financials and SEC Filings:

Mergent Online
Search by company name, ticker symbol, CUSIP, or Duns number.  Find extensive business descriptions, corporate histories, financial statements, equity research reports and tear sheets.
 
Hoover’s
Search by company name to access a company overview which includes financial information, a list of competitors, key executives, and products/operations.  Tip: Information is sometimes limited for some private companies.

OneSource
Search by company name or ticker symbol for excellent coverage of company information for both US and non-US companies, including analyst reports and SWOT analysis.  Tip: Information is sometimes limited for some private companies.

Thomson One Banker
Search by company name and ticker symbol to find extensive corporate, industry, and market  financials, statistics, and forecasts including SEC filings, annual reports, news and competitor information.

Company Profiles and Investment Data:

Mergent Horizon
Search by company name or ticker symbol to find basic financial information and valuation analysis alongside listings of related products/services, customers, suppliers, partners, and competitors.   Build portfolios to compare competing companies.

Standard & Poor’s Research Insight (formerly Compustat PC Plus)
Create customized financial reports on thousands of companies.  Select “Research Assistant” on the opening screen to begin creating your report.

Value Line Investment Survey
Select “Ratings and Reports” to access approximately 1,700 company tear sheets.  Search by company ticker symbol in the small search field at the top right of the screen.  Note: Access to historical data is available on CD and in print format in the McLeod Business Library.

WRDS
 Financial, economic, and marketing data sets from Audit Analytics, COMPUSTAT, CRSP, I/B/E/S, and CUSIP  Master File.

News & Journal Articles

Search for Journals/Periodicals in the following databases to keep up-to-date on accounting information. See below for searching tips for these databases.

EBSCOhost Business Source Complete
Search by selecting “Publications” in header, or search by keyword.  Tip:  To focus your keyword search, change “Select a Field” to “SO Publication Name.”

Factiva
Search by using “Source” under the Intelligent Indexing section to the bottom left.  Also find financial quotes by selecting the “Companies/Markets” tab.

LexisNexis Academic
Search by clicking on the “Subject Areas” tab on the left side of the page. From here, user can click on “Accounting” and search multiple Accounting journals.  Use the “Easy Search” function under “General Searching” to access general news articles, legal cases and company info.

ProQuest ABI/Inform Global
Search by selecting “Publications” in header, or search by keyword. 
Tip:  In the advanced search mode, you may focus your search by changing
“Citation and document text” to “Publication Title.”

Searching Tips:

• Use quotes if you are searching for multiple terms to make sure the search engine looks for those terms together.
• Try to narrow your focus by limiting your search by date of publication, narrowing a search field to “Title”, “Author” or “All Text”.
• Advance Search options are usually more detailed than Basic Search options.
• When you find an article you like, search for more items by the same author, with the same subject terms, or from the same source article.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards
The website has multiple resources surrounding obtaining Certified Financial Planner certification. Quick Links on the left side of the page have useful information including news, future places of employment and grants for those wanting to become a Certified Financial Planner.

The Institute of Internal Auditors (Some Free Areas)
Gain basic professional guidance, certification, and training as well as access to news information and a career center through this website. Not all web pages are accessible without a Member ID and password. There is a cost associated with becoming a member.

International Accounting Standards Board
Search current and ongoing standards as well as news and information on how to join this organization. Topical and Quick Links section on the left side of the homepage as well as a search function.

National Association of State Boards of Accountancy
Forum for 55 boards of accountancy, can “identify, research, and analyze major current and emerging issues affecting state boards of accountancy.” Search various accounting exam information, meeting information as well as archived and current news through this website.
