Steve Smiley

Mason School of Business Executive in Residence, Spring 2011

Steve SmileySteve Smiley is the current president of Hunt Private Equity Group; and in 1998 launched the Lafayette Investment Fund, a $107.5 million private equity fund dedicated to investing in growth-oriented, middle-market businesses.

Smiley is also former president and CEO of Cypress Capital Corporation, a private equity firm he co-founded in 1991, and has over 30 years of experience with investing and financing privately held middle-market companies. Smiley is a member of the board of directors of Petrohawk Energy Corporation and Dynamex, Inc., as well as the boards of Universal Companies and Ginsey Industries, Inc., both Hunt Investment Group portfolio companies.

He is on the board of trustees of the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, the board of managers of the Alumni Association of the University of Virginia and is chairman of the Arts Council at the University of Virginia.
