Bertrand Collomb
In March 2009, the first Andrews Speaker, Bertrand Collomb, visited Mason. Bertrand Collomb was recently retired Chairman & CEO of Lafarge, the largest building materials company in the world.
Mr. Collomb served as Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge SA from August 1989 to May 2003, its Senior Executive Vice President from 1987 to January 1989 and also served as its Chief Operating Officer. Prior to that, Mr. Collomb served various executive positions at Lafarge, namely in North America, from 1975 to 1989.
Mr. Collomb first joined Lafarge in 1975, and served various
positions in Lafarge Ciments including Regional Director, then Chief
Operating Officer and then President. Collomb served as Chairman of the
World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and serves as
a Trustee of the International Accounting Standards Foundation (IASF).
He is also a Member of the European Round Table of Industrialists, Chairman of Association Francaise des Entreprise Privees (AFEP), member of the Institut de France and on December 10, 2001, was elected to the Academie des Sciences Morales ET Politiques and Vice-Chairman of 'Entreprises pour I'Environnment'.
Mr. Collomb graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines in Paris with a French Law Degree. He has a PhD in Management from The University of Texas.
