Every business major chooses one of the following disciplines as their primary area of study:
Integrated Foundation Semester
All newly admitted business majors participate in the Integrated Foundation Semester in their first semester in the Business School. Students take courses in marketing, finance, and information systems along with two integrative courses in business applications and computer skills (a total of 11 credits). Students work in the same teams across their business courses, developing the skills of teamwork, leadership, and communication. It is an immersive semester to develop a fundamental understanding of integrative business disciplines. Find out more . . .
Core Curriculum
Beyond the Integrated Foundation Semester, majors and concentrators in the Mason School of Business must also fulfill several other requirements to complete their broad base business background. Students take courses in organizational behavior and business strategy in addition to understanding the principles of each business discipline. Find out more . . .
Concentration
Business majors may pursue an optional concentration in an area other than their major. This multidisciplinary option requires two advanced-level courses (6 credits) in the selected concentration area. Find out more . . .
Study Abroad
We encourage all of our students to have an international experience. Our curriculum is designed so that each business major can study abroad during the spring semester of the sophomore or junior year and still graduate on time. Students who earn a minimum of 12 credits while studying abroad are encouraged to consider completing an International Emphasis in Business. Find out more . . .
