Student Analysts (2007-2008)

Steve Bender graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a B.S. in Sports Medicine. After one season as an athletic trainer in the NFL with the New England Patriots, he began a career in financial services. Steve worked for State Street Corporation for two years in mutual fund accounting and portfolio administration roles. Prior to attending William and Mary, Steve was employed by Bracebridge Capital, a hedge fund based in Cambridge, MA with over $3 billion in assets under management. During his three years at Bracebridge, Steve served various back and middle office functions and completed his tenure on the trading floor as a portfolio management assistant. Steve will be interning this summer at Ernst & Young in New York City.

 

Will Caudle worked for twelve years in the information technology industry after graduating from the College of William & Mary in 1994.  During the years immediately prior to returning to Williamsburg to pursue an MBA, Will was a Software Engineer for the Virginia Department of Education, where his primary focus was managing projects and designing and developing applications supporting the agency's finance division.  During the summer of 2007, Will worked as a contractor for Wachovia Securities where he developed the Market Data Performance Tool, a tool which enabled management in Technology Delivery Services to continually create business cases for upgrading technology that delivers price quotes to brokers across the enterprise.

 

Krista Collopy graduated Cum Laude from the College of William & Mary, where she was the recipient of two Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowships for scientific research, with a BS in Chemistry.  She then worked as a synthetic organic chemist in the flavor department of International Flavors and Fragrances in Union Beach, NJ.  After receiving her MBA, Krista would like to pursue a doctorate in accounting.  

 

Reid Davis graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi in May 2006.  While at the University of Mississippi, he served as President and CEO of the School of Business Administration.  During this time he also participated on the varsity golf team where he earned the honor of Academic-All American.  When away from the books, Reid enjoys spending time with friends and being outdoors.  He is currently pursuing a career in the financial markets. 

 

Matthew DeRose graduated from the College of William & Mary with a BBA in Finance. He then worked in accounting for a healthcare company followed by a small CPA firm, both in and around Williamsburg, VA. Matthew is working towards a career in corporate treasury and interned this summer with Chatham Financial in Kennett Square, PA.

 

Brie Gallagher is a 1997 graduate of the United States Naval Academy (USNA) with a BS in Economics. She was on Active Duty as a Supply Corps Officer for nine years, providing logistics support to Sailors and Marines on shore and at sea. Career highlights include creating and teaching a four-year financial management and responsibility training program for 4400 students while serving as the Midshipmen Financial Advisor at USNA. In addition, Brie served as the Flag Aide, or personal assistant to the Commander of the Navy Exchange- the Navy’s $2.1B retail organization- where she coordinated Admiral’s briefings and correspondence to leaders of the Navy, Department of Defense, and members of Congress. She is focusing her studies in finance in the MBA Program.

 

Matthew Greene graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic and State University in 2000.  Prior to his MBA studies, Mr. Greene worked in both online marketing and survey research operations.  He served as web-marketing manager for Journyx Inc., a provider of web-based time and expense tracking software for businesses.  Immediately prior to pursuing his MBA,  he worked at RTI International in their Education Survey group as both a survey manager and business analyst on multi-million dollar research projects.

 

Jeremy Kandah graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN with a B.S. in Computer Graphics Technology.  He has run a web consulting firm, and plans to continue his career in technology and consulting.  His current interests include blogging and entrepreneurship.

 

Michael Lamb is an experienced entrepreneur with a background in construction and real estate.  Prior to working towards an MBA, Mr. Lamb started, operated, and sold a ready-mix concrete operation in Richmond, Virginia.  As a result, he has extensive contacts in local government and industry throughout Central and Eastern Virginia.  Mr. Lamb graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Finance from Liberty University in 2001.  His current interests include real estate, emerging capital markets in Eastern Europe, and saltwater fishing.

 

Lynette LaValley graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Finance in 2003.  She went on to work in the retail banking industry at Flagstar Bank.  She successfully completed a management training program and was one of two managers chosen to lead the bank’s expansion into the Atlanta, Georgia region.  Lynette will continue her work in the banking industry during her summer internship at National City Bank.

 

Jia (Margaret) Liu was named 2006 Best Undergraduate from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade with a B.S. in International Economics and Foreign Trade. Prior to joining MBA program, she was a project executive at the Pudong International Training Center and helped the center establish a pricing system and launch three new programs. In the summer 2007 she interned with York County Chamber of Commerce as a marketing assistant and designed the brochure for new marketing campaign; she also interned with People’s Insurance Company of China; the first and largest insurance company in China as an Account Associate.  Margaret focuses her career on finance.

 

Ryan Miller graduated from Utah State University in 2004 with a B.A. in History.  Following his graduation, he worked as a business analyst at National Beef Packing Company, based in Kansas City, Missouri.  As an analyst he focused on improving operational efficiencies, identifying economic opportunities, and managing teams to capitalize on these opportunities.  Ryan academic interests include finance, entrepreneurship, venture capital, and private equity.  This summer, Ryan will intern as a financial analyst at JRM-C, a private holding company in Salt Lake City, Utah.

 

Charles E. Redding graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1999 with a B.A. in Economics.  Charles has since worked for Centura Bank, Inc. and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.  At the Federal Reserve, Charles worked to monitor daylight overdraft balances for commercial institutions and various government entities.  Charles is working towards a career in equity research, and interned this summer with Friedman, Billings, Ramsey, Inc. in Arlington, VA.

 

Edward Rowell moved to Washington, DC to attend American University, having grown up in Massachusetts.  At American University he received a BA in Economics and Literature.  After graduation, he began a career in the insurance industry.  Working for Marsh McLennan, he managed a multi-million dollar portfolio of accounts.  He returned to school at the Mason School of Business to continue his education and to further his career.

 

Amanda Rowe graduated cum laude from the College of William and Mary in 2006 with a B.A. in Psychology and a B.B.A. in Marketing. After completing internships in Marketing Research at Ferguson Enterprises and Event Marketing and Business Development at Geico Insurance, Amanda returned to William and Mary to obtain her M.B.A. with a focus on Consumer Behavior and Brand Management. 

 

Anuj H Shah graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and then completed a Master's of Management Studies in Finance from University of Mumbai. Upon graduation, Anuj joined CRISIL (A Standard & Poor's Company) and worked for two and half years as an Analyst for the energy sector. Anuj has been acknowledged as research assistant in six reports published on RatingsDirect (Standard & Poor's online credit reference tool). Anuj is currently pursuing a career in Investment Management.

 

Matthew Sage Withrow graduated from Boston College with an A.B. in Political Science and an A.B. in Economics.  During the completion of his undergraduate economics curriculum Sage transitioned from the pursuit of a career in law to a career in finance. This summer (2007) Sage interned in the sales & trading group of Citigroup’s Corporate & Investment Banking Division.
