Founded over 300 years ago, The College of William and Mary is the second-oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. It is known as a place of inquiry, discovery, excellence and wisdom. Newsweek named us the "hottest small public university in the United States" in 2006; US News & World Report named us the 6th best public university in the nation in 2008. The Mason School of Business consistently ranks among the top MBA programs in the world. Business Week, the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal recognize our school time and time again, and the Princeton Review ranked Mason faculty 3rd best in the nation for 2008.
The College has played a prominent role in forming entrepreneurial visionaries who have shaped the contours of our world. William & Mary has produced some of America’s most significant and memorable leaders. From America’s founding fathers to the modern business innovators of today – scores of accomplished industry, government, and military executives have passed through our doors seeking a challenging, exciting, unparalleled education experience.
We are not resting on our laurels. The College of William and Mary School of Business was named The Mason School of Business on Nov. 11, 2005. Raymond A. “Chip” Mason, chairman, president and CEO of Legg Mason, Inc., graduated from William and Mary in 1959 and was instrumental in the creation of the School of Business in 1967-68.
And a new state of the art building - Alan B. Miller Hall - is well underway to house the Mason School of Business. Scheduled to open in fall 2009, this stunning example of Georgian architecture will be the new Western Gateway to Campus.
