Extends Miller Hall Construction Project to Include Beautiful Campus Path

Walkers and joggers have discovered the new Accenture Woodland Walk on the William and Mary campus that connects Ukrop Way to the Lake Matoaka Art Center and refurbished Lake Matoaka amphitheater. Winding through a scenic patch of woods behind Alan B. Miller Hall – future home of The Mason School of Business – the elevated walkway has been compared to a horizontal tree house. An extension of the Mason building project planned for completion in Fall 2009, the path benefits the entire campus, and it is the first component of the project to be completed. The walkway is sponsored by private support from William & Mary alumni who are employees of Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company headquartered in Washington, D.C.

“We have many alumni who work at Accenture throughout the world,” explains Terry Pool BA ’79 MBA ’83, recently retired Accenture partner who began last year to explore ways those alumni could collectively donate to their alma mater. “I wanted us to make some kind of donation related to The Mason Business School capital campaign and connected to the building project. Since we have many alumni who are not business majors, we felt the Accenture Woodland Walk would have appeal to our donors. It physically ties the community together and also bridges across our graduates’ different interests. We feel good about it because it will be used by many people. I think giving back should be a lifelong endeavor. We encourage this at Accenture.”
